Variety and what you can do here make for a marvelous and unique quality of life.  We can be riding horses in the morning and then attending the Lexington Opera House at night.  We can eat lunch at the fun (and delicious) Chicken Ranch in downtown Paris, and later go to a winery.  Golf at Houston Oaks and then dinner at Magdalia’s here in Paris, or a short drive to restaurants such as Bonefish Grill, P.F. Chang's, and Flaming's Steakhouse..

You will run a quick errand into Lexington with no traffic lights all the way, and be back in an hour, or around the corner to a hardware store for some potting soil for the garden.  The contrasts are wonderful here and adorned by friendliness and safety. Check out the amazing life you will have with us here in Bourbon County – and in each feature, meet your future neighbors!

Golf, Theater, and Horse Parks

With our own Paris Pike ending in downtown Lexington at the Convention Center and Rupp Arena, our access to the best shows and entertainment in the city is more convenient than Lexington suburbs.  We are not a rural community where we struggle to find things to do; rather, there is so much here, both in our backyard and just a few minutes away!

Shopping

Whether it’s walking downtown for a little shopping and a light lunch, or filling the trunk with shopping bags from Circuit City or a shopping spree at Macy’s, both are easy – just make your plan!

Dining & Food

That’s Chicken Ranch’s tenders dinner, with macaroni and cheese, broccoli casserole, and sweet tea – $4.99! Paris has a heavenly selection of food, from quaint coffee shops, our Farmer’s Market, ethnic eateries, and at Louie’s you can dine with employees at Claiborne Farm and listen to stories about their famous horses, from Seattle Slew to Secretariat.  Bonefish Grill and other chains are close, and Starbucks is local!

History

Henry Clay hung out here, as did Daniel Boone.  The inventor of the traffic light was born in Bourbon County.  And by the way, did we mention that Bourbon Whiskey was originally made here – after all, that’s why it’s called Bourbon!  We used to be part of Virginia and our history/founding dates back to the late 1700s.

Family Perspectives

What better way to see how it is to live here than to meet some families?

Rupp Arena and Convention Center

Amazingly, our Paris Pike leads right into Rupp Arena and the Convention Center as it changes into Broadway and intersects with Main Street – no turns and under 17 miles from Bourbon County with no traffic lights until we get into downtown Lexington.

For flying enthusiasts, Marshall Field is easily accessible on SR 460, the other connector road to I-75 from downtown Paris, our bypass, close to the Paris Industrial Park, and its Gulfstream 5 compatible.  Downtown Paris is also Headquarters for the Kentucky Garden Club.
