State University and
Nursing School/Award-Winning Educators/
We're proud that our local public schools have received national recognition and provide advanced music, arts, technology, as well as college credit courses that challenge our brightest students.
We live adjacent to the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith and its beautiful modern campus, with the Health Sciences Department and Nursing School. 45 minutes away is the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Many colleges are under 2 hours away. Our teachers also happen to be our neighbors and friends, whom we see at community festivals, at the mall, ball games, and in our places of worship, and they ensure that every student matters. There’s no better place in the world for children!

Kyle Moran A special message from Alma Schools Superintendent and Summit Medical Center Board Member, Charles Dyer
Mr. Dyer has been in our community as a teacher and educator since 1970, first coming to Crawford County at a young age to be principal of Alma High School, which now among many accolades is the only school which has dance and ballet as actual classes that are part of the curriculum. The Alma Performing Arts Center is a true pillar of the Alma community in eastern Crawford County, and revenue generated from its hosting of a variety of benefits and concerts last year totaled more than $50,000 which was dispersed to many students for college scholarships. "I'd like to thank you for viewing this presentation of Summit Medical Center and Crawford County. For a county of our size, I imagine you are impressed with our schools as well as the wide variety of options that contribute to our marvelous quality of life. I have been involved in the recruitment of medical professionals and physicians into our community since the 1970s. If you are considering a career opportunity, I encourage you to factor not just the future business potential that goes along with our rapid growth, but there may not be a better place all around in America than right here for children and family. And here physicians and healthcare workers are needed and appreciated instead of disappearing into a large city and being one of many, you can be a leader of your community here and leave a lasting legacy."
